I’ve received many questions on how to install Snapchat on iOS and Android tablets so I wanted to provide a how-to-guide Snapchat for Tablets. I mainly use Snapchat on my iPad Mini in order to edit my snaps, specifically to draw and add more details for my stories. It’s definitely a lot easier to modify snaps with a bigger surface screen.
How to install Snapchat for your iOS tablet:
Step 1. Open up your appstore in your iOS tablet and at the top left corner of your screen tap where it says IPad apps and select iPhone apps instead. This will show all the apps you previously downloaded on your iPhone.
Step 2. Scroll down until you find Snapchat and tap the download button and you’re ready to start using the app.
Note though, since Snapchat was designed to work on your mobile device, the image resolution specifically for the iPhone isn’t optimal. Make sure to reduce the magnified view so that your snap looks more clear.
How to install Snapchat for your Android tablet (newer tablets that have access to all apps in Google Play Store):
Step 1. On your Android tablet, the app can be found on Google Play. Search for Snapchat in the search field.
Step 2. Tap the three dots next to the desired result button and then “Install” to download.
Step 3. Grant permission from the Play Store to proceed with the download.
How to install Snapchat for your Android tablet (running on an older operating system, Nexus 7 tablet or older):
In prior Snapchat versions/updates, Snapchat was not available for tablets in the Google Play Store. To hack this, you had to download an APK (application install file) onto your Android tablet which isn’t always reliable but usually gets the job done.
Step 1: In the Google Play Store, you receive the following: “Your device isn’t compatible with this version”
Step 2: Enable Unknown Sources. Go to Settings -> Security -> Device Administration and check Unknown Sources.
Step 3: Download and Install Snapchat. Google “Snapchat (v4.1.07) APK file directly onto your tablet nd press OK when the warning prompt comes up.
Once downloaded, tap on the APK file in your notifications tray or in Downloads or your File Manager.
Step 4. Follow the on-screen prompts to install it and either log in or create a new account.
